it is over

OK so now we have a new president elect. I am so sad that so many people are so dumb. Wasn't it Lincoln who said "you can fool some of the people all of the time, all of the people some of the time but you can't fool all the people all of the time."? Suffice it to say I think some of the people got fooled. I feel sorry for them in a way, but, and here is where I am sick, I am also looking forward to laughing my butt off at them. I have no problem saying I told you so and won't feel a lick of remorse about it. I mourned for a day, got over it and now I am going to get up and fight for somethings in which I believe. Feel free to join me!

sarha palins clothes

I admit 150,000 dollars on clothes is a lot. However, I bet if you go through the closets of those in Washington, the ones in the national spot light all the time you will find similar cost. Just not all at once. I don't know why Sarah is being hounded for the price tag of the clothes. I think that her lack of pricey wardrobe proves something about her. She and her family really do live like you and me. If for some reason some of us regular folks were put in the national spot light we would need wardrobe assistance too. I know I would. Sarah really is in a no win situation with the clothes, if she didn't have the wardrobe she would have been made fun of or called a hick. She has the clothes and is torn apart for having someone spend that amount of money on her. I love that the clothes are to go to charity or be auctioned off. A the same time I would have no problem with her keeping them. She should get some compensation for all the vitriol she has had to take. Why not look good while taking it?

colin powell

I actually don't mind that Colin Powell endorsed Obama. For a while at least this is still a free country and he can endorse the candidate of his choice. I admit to surprise, but am OK with his choosing Obama. What I find funny is how many of the people that called him an Uncle Tom and berated him for being in the Bush cabinet, suddenly find his opinion worthy. But I guess that is how it goes in politics one minute you are up the next down depending on what the main stream media thinks of you. I do wonder what would he would have been called if he had endorsed McCain.

joe biden

Poor Joe. He got asked questions he didn't like. Sigh. I am supposed to believe that he is a man who can roll with the punches, ready and able to be president if needed, yet he can't take questions he doesn't like. So what did he do? He reacted like a child. He isn't going to play with that station any more. He took his toys and went home. Because that is how people ready to lead act. Way to go, Joe!

nc state fair

So, I went to the state fair today and had a great time! I ate all the "fair" food I like. A hand dipped corn dog, fresh cut fries, blooming onion (bad sauce had just a bite or two then got rid of it, sigh) and fudge. I went to all the exhibits I like and people watched which I enjoy. We have been told, and I am not disputing, that NC which has been a red state during elections is in play for this election. In a way I am glad. We hardly see a candidate here during elections. This year we have had visits from several people from each campaign. I like that. What I took note of today is the number of McCain/Palin vs Obama/Biden support from tee-shirts to stickers. McCain Palin had a showing of at least 10 to 1. I saw very few Obama/Biden stickers and I was looking, I wanted to know. This was very non scientific I didn't ask questions I just looked at what people were wearing. A very good friend of mine, an Obama supporter, was at the fair opening day and said there weren't many Obama stickers. The Obama officials/supporters at the fair told her, it was their understanding there could be no stickers. So, I could understand a low count on day one but we are almost at the end of the fair and not many stickers and no tee-shirts seen for him at all. We may not be an election cycle blue state but may still be Carolina Blue in a red state.

joe the plumber

Joe the plumber could be any one of us. A regular guy or girl like you or me ask a question of one of the candidates, as it happened the one esteemed by the left leaning media. And what happened next? The other candidate the one not esteemed by the left leaning media mentions Joe's name. The next thing you know Joe is followed and investigated by the media for asking a question. His personal financial information is given out like he is running for office. He is accused of not really being a plumber but being a plant from the GOP. He is told in an interview that his taxes would only go up 3% more from 36% to 39% the inference being "what's the big deal?".
I now know what would happen if you or I were to ask a question that might not make Obama shine like the star the left leaning media has made him. Let Joe's question be a serious lesson to us all. Don't question Obama if the answer could possibly put him in a bad light. Obama's friends in the media won't stand for it. You or I could find ourselves investigated, belittled and our personal lives broadcast across the nation for daring to question Obama. Joe the running mate and Obama the candidate have both made fun of Joe the plumber and his question. How many plumbers do you know that make a quarter of a million dollars a year? Why is this amusing to Obama, who snickered at the thought of a plumber making 250 grand? He laughs at someone wanting to have the American Dream! Stunning! I have heard media on the left and right say the subject of Joe isn't really important. Remember he is a regular Joe like you and me. This shows me how out of touch the media is. One person's interest in the campaign and how the outcome will effect his lively hood now and in the future is important, because he is a regular Joe like you and me. But don't challenge The One or you or I will find ourselves vilified by his friends in the media. Say it ain't so Joe, say it ain't so!

how smart is Obama?

So, how smart is Obama? He went to Harvard, was involved in the Harvard Law Review and taught at the University of Chicago Law School just to name a few of his accomplishments. Yet, where I come from, you know somewhere very near Main Street, we would refer to him as someone who ain't got no sense. How could he possibly be in a church for 20 years (20 years) and not have heard the pure hate preached from the pulpit? By the way, there is nothing Christ like about preaching hate. The Savior, the real one, wants us to be happy, loving and follow his example. This hatred in any church is an incredibly skewed caricature of a religion based on love, peace and service. Anyway, Obama didn't know? Really? Really? I didn't go to Harvard and don't have any of the accolades Obama has heaped on me and yet in similar situations I have managed to figure out there is something very wrong in say, 20 minutes or less. I don't care how often he attended that church which, if it took 20 years and the mainstream media to help him figure out, couldn't have been often.
Now on the domestic terrorist, Obama keeps saying he was only 8 years old when the bombings occurred. That is very true, yea, Obama can do math! What does that have to do with price of rice in China? Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini and other horrors, lived, wreaked terror and died before I was born. And yet I somehow have pieced together that they were bad men. And I didn't even go to a four year college let alone Harvard. So, this terrorist was just a guy in the neighbourhood, that Obama sat on boards with, had meetings with, kicked off his political career with and didn't he know who this terrorist was. Really? Really? Obama must think we haven't got any sense if we swallow that pile a crap. REALLY!

sarah palin

I have never in my life seen so many men threatened by one woman. What, you say? Oh, yeah, they are. Keith Olbermann, John Stewart, Chris Matthews, Joel Mchale, Wolf Blitzer, Alec Baldwin all are wearing adult diapers. They can hardly contain themselves for fear of a woman. You would think that feminist would be out in droves, most not agreeing with, but still defending a sister from the attacks of the men. But NO. They are worse than the men. Barbara Walters, Gloria Steinem, Ashley Judd, Joy Behar, Heather Mallick they are all acting like a buntch of harpies. Why all the venom? Fear. They all attack because of fear. They are so afraid of a woman they can't see straight, act right or make any sense. I smell chicken. Every time they open their mouths I can hear clucking. Cowards. Things that aren't so scary don't get the attention, attacks, or acrimony Sarah Palin has garnered. Sarah Palin doesn't fit the repressed stereo type of conservative women they have created in their small minds.
It's funny the conservative view is always portrayed as backward and called backward by the mainstream media. The attacks on Sarah Palin have been an eye opener for me. Liberal leaning "open minded" people are really closed minded. Sure you can have your own point of view as long as it matches their point of view. I think they were so busy being open minded their brains fell out. My very wise mother has always encouraged me to have an open mind, but not so opened my brains fall out. Now, I see why. I might wind up a narrow minded, self important prig like one of the above if I lost my mind. I would rather be seen as backward any day. In fact, I would consider it a step, for lack of a better word, forward.

hope change, hope change, blah, blah, blah

We keep hearing about hope and change from each side in this election year. Both camps promised hope and change. OK hope and change with two candidates that broke their promise to play nice. I keep hearing through the media that negative ads work. Sure they do, because there are so few positive ads.
How much hope and change can we expect from one guy who is young and I don't care what anyone says, inexperienced, who picked a running mate who has been in Washington for over thirty years? How can we fully trust a granted more experienced, but still Washington insider for over thirty years? I get the Maverick thing, I think, but I don't see much evidence.
So now they have both broken campaign promises already. Hope change, hope change, hope change.

global warming AKA climate change

I love how when something is seen as a negative it gets a new name. Liberal has got a negative connotation suddenly it's now Progressive. Which just let me ask who decided that liberal ideas are progressive? Please, who do you think you are fooling? Global warming has a negative connotation, suddenly it's Climate Change. A couple of thoughts: when I was in school we were taught we were heading for another ice age and it was all our (mans) fault. Now we are supposedly heading for a melt down, yet the temperature hasn't changed in TEN YEARS.
Still the "experts" tell us we are melting and it is all our fault. Do you watch Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, National Geographic etc? I do and have learned a lot of good and interesting things from them. However, I challenge you to start paying attention to everything we (man) have done, caused, ruined. We are portrayed like the special needs cousin of the planet. Always making a mess that someone else is going to have to clean up later and if only someone smarter than us was leading us along in the first place none of this would have happened. Now, do you think I am saying we take the care we should of the earth, NO, but holy cow, I don't know how we let alone our children are going to face our/themselves in the mirror for all the guilt and shame heaped on us all.

Tired of hearing the same old, same old from polititians

I keep hearing both the Dems and the GOP talk about how they are going to look out for Main Street. I have yet in my life to feel that they care about Main Street.
Not one of them has said a word about the fact that even though fuel cost is down, the prices are about the same to us. Why, oh, why are we the great capitalist that we are allowing this monopoly to go on? The oil companies continue to rake in huge earnings. I keep hearing how those earnings are reinvested. Please, if all that money was put to use we would be farther along in energy independence.
About health care, no one addressed how much we spend on illegal aliens, lawyers getting huge settlements for medical mistakes, while there are very valid legal actions taken many are frivolous, how the FDA blocks pharmaceutical advances which drives up the price of medical advances, and how preventative medicine is the first line of care yet some many insurance plans won't cover basic preventive care.

Both political camps are talking about the housing crisis. They are rightly so talking about the unscrupulous mortgage providers. I know that there were some taken advantage of by these villains. But I am not stupid. I don't for one minute believe that all those loans went to wide eyed innocents wanting a piece of the American dream. So now we are going to reward the people that faltered by buying their mortgages or refinancing them? What is that? So, I work hard, pay bills, I mean I pay bills first eat last. I take care of myself and people who wanted and got more than they could afford get a break. Really? So much for my American dream. I hear from different sources in the media that about 10% of the loans have failed. So the 90% of us, lets call us something, hum, I know, how about Main Steet, that has a nice ring to it, we get to pay for everything. Wow, I am so excited that there is someone out there looking out for me.
